New year and a new Bible plan

Well, it is the first of the year and once again it is time for new resolutions. Every year I plan on reading the bible all the way through. Some years I do great and other years I falter. Last year was a year for faltering. I really had great plans and I just allowed myself to let other things become more important than my walk with God. For the sake of my children I cannot allow that to happen this year. I have to show them the way to Christ. I know that I cannot save them. They have to make that decision on there own. I am responsible for showing them who Christ is and how to have a relationship with him. One way I need to do that is through having a consistent Bible reading and study time. So here I am again making a commitment to read every day this year. A few of the ladies at church are reading the same plan so we can hold each other accountable and discuss the things we are reading. We are reading two New Testament passages and two Old Testament passages a day. This is where I will gather my thoughts about what I read every day.
This evening we read genesis 1-2, Matthew 1:1-17, Psalm 1, and Acts 1:1-11.
Genesis thoughts-
Day 3 plants were created, which need sunlight to grow. The sun was not created until the next day. This becomes a problem for those who do not believe that the earth was created in 7 literal days. How could the plants survive without sunlight for any length of time.
Jesus and the Holy Spirit were there at creation because God says "our image" several times.
The first people were vegetarians. I guess that says something about the very heavy meat diet most Americans have. That was not God's intention.
The command to not eat the fruit in the middle of the garden was given to Adam alone. eve was not created yet when God told Adam this.

Psalm thought-
In the first verse of Psalm we have a progression of sin. First we walk by someone sinning or a temptation. The next step comes when we stop and then we look at what is going on. We have to think about it and our thoughts turn toward that sin. The last step is to sit or join in the sin and give into the temptation. We need to guard our hearts in the first step when we are just walking and purpose in our hearts that we will not stop and dwell upon the sin or temptation.
